Tie up & Buoy Rigs

Primarily used on the Continent (although perfectly adaptable for UK use)Tie up or Buoy rigs are really good rigs for presenting baits - usually live baits near to the surface. These rigs work well in running or still water but do require a boat to set them up unless you have access to the far bank when it is possible to rig them from dry land.

The beauty of both these rigs is that baits can be positioned very accurately and at whatever depth you wish with virtually no line in the water at all. Rods should be fished with their tips as high as possible. Bites are indicated by either standard bite alarms on elevated banksticks and anglelocks or by using purpose built motion or tremble alarms. Don't overlook the good old rod top bell either!

This rig is probably best explained by watching this video.
